How to Set Up Test Scenarios and Tasks

This guide will provide you with a step-by-step process on how to set up effective test scenarios for your user tests on our remote user testing platform. A well-defined scenario is crucial for obtaining valuable insights from your tests. Let’s get started:

1. Log In to Your Account

First, log into your account. Upon successful login, you’ll be directed to your dashboard.

2. Navigate to ‘Tests’ or ‘Projects’

From your dashboard, you can start a new test by going to the ‘Tests’ tab or select a specific project from the ‘Projects’ tab and click on ‘Create Test’. If you wish to modify an existing test, choose ‘Edit Test’.

3. Locate the ‘Test Scenarios’ Section

While creating or editing a test, you will find the ‘Test Scenarios’ section. This is where you will define the tasks that you want your test participants to perform.

4. Define Your Scenario and Tasks

When defining your scenario and tasks, remember to keep them clear, concise, and relevant to your test objectives. For instance, if you are testing an e-commerce website, a scenario could be: “Find a pair of black shoes in size 10 and add them to the shopping cart.”

5. Using Test Templates

If you do not have any specific scenario or task yet, use our pre-defined test templates in our template library.

Currently you can use basic templates in the Flex (Pay-as-you-go= plan and advanced templates within the Grow plan (subscription).

6. Order Your Tasks

If you have multiple scenarios in your test, order them logically and ensure that one task flows naturally into the next.

7. Review Your Test Scenario and Tasks

Before you launch the test, it’s important to review your setup. Make sure the scenario and tasks align with your test goals and that they are clear and easy to understand.

Remember, the goal is to mimic real-world tasks that users might perform on your website, app, or product. The more realistic and specific they are, the more valuable feedback you can expect to receive.

Congratulations! You’ve now learned how to set up test scenarios. This is a crucial step towards gaining meaningful insights from your user tests.
